Research Interests

Dr. James Colsher, PhD, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Radiology.

Dr. Colsher was with GE Healthcare from 1982 until his retirement in 2009. He started at GE as a Senior Scientist working first in CT and later in PET. He was Manager, Academic Research directing research activities at major medical centers in the eastern US. After his retirement, he joined the Faculty of the Graduate Program in Medical Physics where he informally mentors students. Dr. Colsher’s expertise includes CT and PET imaging.  Previous research activities included the development of calibration and correction methods, 2D and 3D image reconstruction algorithms, system simulation, and performance evaluation.  His current research efforts are focused on dose reduction for diagnostic CT and the use of low dose CT for PET attenuation correction.
