Seminars in Medical Physics / BME 265.07

Fall 2004

When: Thursdays, 11:40 am - 12:55 pm (bring your lunch)
Where: Bryan Research Building, Rm 162 (atrium conference room)
Who: Co-organized by Ehsan Samei & Joseph Lo

Note on next semester - the schedule has not been finalized yet, but we tentatively plan to meet every Wed 4-5 PM in the same room. The seminar will probably be offered as a BME 365 (graduate only) course of 1 credit as before.

MEDICAL PHYSICS is the application of the concepts and methods of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. As you can see from the current and past schedules, medical physicists come from many fields including radiology, BME, physics, radiation safety, radiation oncology, etc.

The seminar is also offered as BME 265.07, co-instructed by Ehsan Samei and Joseph Lo of the Duke Advanced Imaging Labs (DAILabs) of Duke Radiology, and is generally required for all DAILabs students. We meet once a week for a lecture or journal club. Generally, no advanced preparation is required (other than reading the paper if it's a journal club). Grading of this 1 graduate credit course will be based on participation in discussion and a short quiz at the end of each seminar.

For more information (including permission codes) or to volunteer for future seminars, please email us.
