On May 9, 2026, the Duke Medical Physics Graduate Program celebrated the Class of 2026 at its annual Awards and Diplomas Ceremony at the Washington Duke Inn. The event honored 17 Master of Science and 9 Doctor of Philosophy graduates, along with faculty and students recognized for excellence in leadership, scholarship, teaching, and service.
Program Director Mark Oldham PhD congratulated the Class of 2026 on reaching this important professional milestone, highlighting the program’s strong tradition of research, clinical impact, and alumni achievement. Drawing on an analogy from his astrophotography image of the Whirlpool Galaxy, he reflected on how the challenges, mentorship, and collaborations experienced at Duke help shape graduates into future leaders in medical physics.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Njood Alsaihati shared a personal reflection on leaving Saudi Arabia, growing through Duke Medical Physics, and learning that excellence is built through intentional choices, care, and integrity. She encouraged her classmates to carry forward the program’s legacy by representing the field with high standards, supporting others, and continuing to build something meaningful for those who follow.
The ceremony featured individual diploma presentations by faculty advisors, heartfelt moments of gratitude from graduates, and a slideshow celebrating memories from their time at Duke. The celebration concluded with a joyful luncheon shared among graduates, families, faculty, and friends.
Congratulations to the Duke Medical Physics Class of 2026. We are proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see the impact you will make in the years ahead.
