Over that past few years, Drs. Justus Adamson and Mark Oldham have collaborated with Linax Technologies Ltd. in incorporating the SIMAC Linear Accelerator Simulator software into the graduate program radiation therapy curriculum. SIMAC provides the students with a simulated environment in which they can see how a medical linear accelerator works. The first-year students in our radiation therapy course learn about each component and the effect of changing various parameters. The tool was recently commercialized, with Duke University becoming the first institutional user of the software.
