AAPM Task Group Report 233: Performance Evaluation of Computed Tomography Systems, was recently published. Dr. Ehsan Samei (Radiology) served as the chair of the task group and Dr. Justin Solomon (CIPG) served as a member. The report is expected to define the new standard on how to assess the performance of diagnostic computed tomography systems and provides a much needed update to the testing methods currently utilized by diagnostic imaging physicists. The report pays particular attention to advanced features of modern scanners such as tube current modulation and iterative reconstruction and provides a framework for task-based assessment of image quality.
