Patient-Centered Optimization

Medical physicists at Duke University partnered with radiologists to optimize image quality and dose using actual patient cases. The efforts allow them to optimize dose based on individual patient characteristics and based on each imaging equipment.

“We want to make sure our procedures are customized and matched to the specifics of each patient,” says Ehsan Samei, PhD, professor of radiology and chief imaging physicist for Duke University Health System. “The whole concept really grows out of the desire to deliver consistent patient-centered care.”
